How it works

From an English page to a Kinyarwanda page in three steps.

No new system to learn. Editors stay in the page tree they already use. Typosema adds one module and one button.

01

Translate

Open any page, pick Kinyarwanda and click Translate this page. Titles, SEO fields and every content block go to the engine in the background. The live site doesn't change.

02

Review

See the original and the draft side by side, field by field, and edit anything right there. If the engine couldn't handle something cleanly, it's flagged Needs manual: never quietly left broken.

03

Publish

Publish when it reads right. Because Typosema fills TYPO3's own language mechanics, menus, URLs, SEO tags and caching work straight away.

Features

Careful with everything that isn't a word.

Machine translation is good at words and bad at structure. Typosema keeps the two apart, so links, tables, media and layouts come out exactly as they went in.

Structure-safe translation

Before anything is sent, Typosema separates the visible text from the markup around it. Only the words are translated, then put back exactly where they came from. Links, tables and styling stay untouched.

Media carries over

Images, videos and files attached to the page are brought across automatically. Their captions, alt text and titles are translated too, instead of staying in English.

Nested layouts, in order

Two- and three-column containers translate correctly at any depth. Typosema works out the order: every outer section before the content inside it.

Safe by default

Re-running a translation never overwrites existing work. You get a warning instead. Replacing it takes a deliberate tick of Re-translate (overwrite).

Clean URLs

Translated pages get tidy addresses that bookmarks and links keep working with. Prefer localised URLs? Switch them on, and edit any page's path by hand.

Bulk translation

Translate a whole section in one job.

Select a page and the pages beneath it, pick a language, and Typosema handles the rest in the background.

  • A page plus some or all of its subpages
  • One dashboard with the status of every page
  • Publish everything at once, or retry only what failed
  • Runs unattended as a scheduled task: no browser tab needed

Built into TYPO3, not bolted on.

Instead of a separate translation system, Typosema fills TYPO3's own language mechanics, so everything TYPO3 already does for multilingual sites works with zero extra setup.

Language menu

Visitors switch between English and Kinyarwanda from the language menu TYPO3 already provides.

Correct URLs

Every translated page gets the right address, with routing handled by TYPO3.

SEO tags

Language and alternate-page tags are output for search engines automatically.

Caching

Translated pages are cached like the rest of your site, so performance stays where it was.

Which languages does Typosema support?

Today, English and Kinyarwanda. More languages are on the way as Digital Umuganda's translation engine grows, and the language dropdown only ever lists pairs the engine actually supports, so editors can't pick a combination that won't work.

Will a translation ever go live on its own?

No. Every translation is saved as a draft that isn't visible on the live site. It goes live only when an editor reviews it and chooses to publish.

What happens when I update the English page?

The existing translation is left untouched, and you see a warning that one already exists. To replace it, you tick Re-translate (overwrite) on purpose, so nobody's edits are lost by accident.

Do I need to change how my TYPO3 site is set up?

No. Typosema fills TYPO3's own language mechanics, so a site that already has English and Kinyarwanda configured works straight away, including the language menu, URLs, SEO tags and caching.

Can large translation jobs run without someone watching?

Yes. Bulk jobs run in the background as a scheduled task, so nobody needs to keep a browser tab open. You come back to a dashboard showing which pages are ready, which failed and which are still queued.

How do I install Typosema?
